I brought treats for 267's lab today, they were happy. Prof Thom and I talked more about A&P tests and how people pretty much decide how well they will do overall by how they study for the writtens. For example, if they see someone score a 72 on their writtens, they assume they will probably not pass the oral examination. Near the end of the lab he starting saying that he wasn't reccomending anything, but that he thought I may enjoy working on Uncle Sam's toys. To which I answered, as a civilian? And he replied that I may be saluting some people. Ha okay let me say me and PTs is not going to be a lasting relationship, lol. Got an email today reguarding graduation. Tickets, cap and gown, free stuff, class rings, etc... Back home after turbines lecture, received an email saying the Mesa Air Group is hiring A&P mechanics! WHOA AWESOME! So I went back to finish my application at www.airlineapps.com But because of a premature application I am unable to post for an A&P position, so I called their HR dept directly. Voice mail of course, so I left a message requesting information on applying for the position. Waiting.... and studying for more quizzes

Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005 :: FuN DaY ::

Ah, yet another Wednesday I have survived. Hmm, MET lecture was cool. We went over varying types of alloyed and stainless steels looking at the compositions for carbon, nickel, chromium, and silicon. Work today was interesting. Dan, the "janitor" at Cumberland had told HQ that he had enough stuff to keep us busy today. Boy, did he under estimate Carly power, lol. I had his whole list done in an hour, lol. It was easy stuff anyway: check the tennis court trash cans, rake the play ground mulch, pick up some brush and pull it over to the curb, and trim up a tree. Simple right. So after that I sat around for 25 minutes with nothing to do and I couldnt find Dan again. I found him later in the gym and he told me I could take out the recycleables and then take a break. So I did and then I went to grab some lunch at Burger King. When I got back he said I could start painting the fence out by the kindergarden playground. Okay, this is a very rusty chain link fence I'm painting with indoor outdoor Chromium/Aluminum paint, lol. Some how I think the rust will come back pretty quick. Anyway, I painted for the rest of my shift. Then I headed off to Avoinics lecture where we talked about Boeing EICAS and Airbus ECAM systems and watched somemore about string theory and black holes. Our 402 lab was a little different today because there happened to be a SWAT team practicing boarding and terrorist take downs in our 737. We actually got to go through a trial run with them. They selected 3 random students to be terrorists and gave them fake explosives and composite knives. There was no script to the way things would be acted out. It was all on the fly. So the "terrorists" took the cabin crew hostage and demanded to be let in the cockpit. Every minute they were denied they "killed" one of the passengers. So for the SWAT team, negotions were out of the questions and they boarded the plane through the wing emergency exits. We were prompt prior to the excercise that when they board they will call "Hostages Down" and you better friggin' get on the ground or they'll consider you hostile and take you down. If for some reason you end up with a weapon from the hyjackers and the SWAT is bording, DROP IT! Anyone with a weapon will also be considered hostile and shot. The whole boarding and hyjacker take down lasted all of maybe 30 seconds. Then they hurried us off the 737 and had us board the 727 for identification and searching. Funny enough the three guys they chose for the hyjackers were all in the 402 class, so we all pointed them out quite quickly with no hesitation, lol. Anyway it was cool they brought on their bomb sniffing dog and had him locate two "bomb materials". His name was Harry and he was actually trained in Czhekoslovakia and Hungary before he came to America, and he has to be spoken to in Czhekoslovikian.
No welding tonight. Just gonna work on some other homework assignment.
DEEVS! AWESOME NAME! Tried to leave you a note but your diary is locked =P
I was informed on my survey that bananas are an herb... so I looked into that. From what I read is that the banana tree is actaully the herb, but the banana comes from the flower and is a fruit and looks like slender fingers. The fully grown fruits in clusters become a "hand of bananas." And I read that Nematodes are a major pest problem.
